Northwest Montana Quarter Horse Association would like to take this opportunity to update you on what's new concerning our shows and futurities that we host each year.
Because the first of five shows is "single-judged", which makes for a long first day, we will again have classes beginning at 3:30p.m. June 30th the afternoon-evening before the actual first day of the circuit. (See the enclosed schedule of events to see if any of your classes that you compete in are held at this time.)
We've had several requests for Team Roping for Open and Amateur exhibitors so we will offer these classes on a trial basis this year. If it is important to you as a trainer or owner to have more shows offer these classes, please spread the word to your fellow ropers to come to Kalispell, so we'll have these classes again in following years.
NWMQHA, and all reiners that come to Kalispell, owe Jerry Fowler and the other reining supporters listed below because they contributed and raised additional monies to get our Three-Yr-Old Snaffle Bit Reining Futurity "added money" up to a whopping $2,250.00 !!! Of this $2,250.00, a good client of Jerry's owns Les Schwab Tires who is donating $1000.00. NWMQHA is contributing $500.00 and the balance is sponsored by Jerry & Kim Fowler Training, Raz Quarter Horses (who have supported this futurity for several years) and Tim Bagnell, another client of Jerry's who's supported several horse related events in Northwest Montana.
Because of the large number of non-pro reiners attending our show the past few years we see the need to add money to the Amateur Reining. This year NWMQHA will add $1000.00 to the class with horses of all ages eligible to compete.
Furthermore, we are extremely appreciative of the following individuals who are Montana breeders and trainers of horses that excel in working cow horse events. Alphabetically Listed: Bill and Jill Galt (Galt Ranch) of White Sulpur Springs, Audrey and Dave Raczykowski (Raz Quarter Horses) of Helena, the Riley Ranch of Buxton, Mt, Dave and Karen Vietor of Phillipsburg, Stan and Nancy Weaver (Weaver Quarter Horses) are donating $1250.00 for a Junior Working Cow Horse Futurity Class. The generosity of all the individuals contributing to the reining and cow horse classes, to the benefit of all owners and trainers that compete in these events, is really commendable. Thank-you one and all. Those of you that would like to see the purses in other categories such as western pleasure, trail, hunter under saddle and halter take note of what the above individuals have done to make the reining and cow horse classes more exciting and meaningful.
For the second year the show will be held at the new MAJESTIC VALLEY ARENA. The owners and staff of this beautiful facility have worked hard at making this arena one of the "best in the west". New this year is a large exhibitor shower, which is next to the main barn. Additional paving has been completed with more oiling to be completed soon. More electrical hook-ups will be installed prior to our show. NWMQHA is very appreciative of the staff at Majestic Valley for their willingness to work with us in making our show a success. They truly want you all to enjoy your stay in NW Montana. Please remember this is a privately owned and funded facility that was built for others to enjoy horse related activities. We ask that you do what you can to keep it clean. Be respectful as to where you tie your horses and park your vehicles.
Majestic Valley has plans to build additional barns with permanent stalls but
until this happens we will again use portable stalls under the overhang. These
portable stalls are very well constructed and safe but aren't as big as the
stalls in the main barn nor will you have a paved alleyway. All the stalls are
priced the same but we have implemented a new program for those of you who want
to be in the main barn. See the sponsorship page that is included in this mailing
for further details but if you want to have stalling preference you will have
to become a "show sponsor". For a $50.00 sponsorship you will have
three stalls assigned in the main barn with an additional $10.00 sponsorship
required for each additional stall. As sponsors we ask that you include a business
card for advertising in our show premium booklet when you book your stalls.
Send separate check for sponsorship with list of all parties stalling under
each sponsorship. The sponsorship money that is raised from stalling will be
used to increase purse money in next year's futurities. Book stalls and hook-ups
early to ensure you get one. Take note of the first payment date of the futurity
you plan to enter; they should all have several entries. Also, there will be
an NRHA Reining at the facility June 27, 28, 29 which means no one can arrive
for the horse show prior to 6: 30 pm on Sunday evening, June 29 th.
